Most people think they already know Mallorca. They picture the busy coast, the summer crowds, and the familiar south. But the real island is quieter, more layered, and far more elegant than most expect. Mallorca moves between two moods. There is Palma, quietly one of the Mediterranean’s most sophisticated small cities, with its sandstone cathedral above the water, old town courtyards, galleries, and a dining scene that feels far bigger than its size. Then there is the northwest, where the Serra de Tramuntana rises from the sea. This is the Mallorca of Deià and Sóller, terraced olive groves, stone villages, hidden coves, and the soft light that has drawn artists and writers for generations. The best time to visit is from late April to October, but we love the shoulder months most. May and June bring calmer coastlines and a softer rhythm, while September and early October offer warm seas with fewer crowds. July and August are beautiful but busy, best reserved for early planners, yacht days, and clients who want the island at full summer energy.
